A Special Story - For Those Who Have Lost A Beloved Pet |
|
It seems to me that alot of people have been losing thier rats, or other pets, lately. Maybe i'm just noticing it more since Binky just died. But I have a special story for you all. Some of you might already be familiar with it.
I don't remember where I heard this story but it's an extremely inspiring story for anybody that has lost a beloved pet.
There was a family that had a dog. The dog was really old and his condition was getting worse by the day. The family tried thier best to make their beloved friend comfortable in his last days with them.
One day the dog finally passed on and the entire family was there to say good bye. The youngest member of the family was a little boy. He cried just a little bit and wiped away his tears and he did not cry anymore. His mother came to him and said. "It's okay to cry honey. It's okay to be sad."
The boy replied. "But I don't have to be sad." he said.
The whole family looked at him wondering how the boy could be so strong. He went on to explain.
"God put us on Earth so that we could learn to be loving and good people. It takes us a while to learn so we live for a long time. But dogs already know how to be loving and that's why they don't need to stay as long."
I hope you guys enjoy that story. I'm not sure if that's exactly how the story goes but it's the general idea. It makes me choke up every time I think of it. And though the story is about a dog I believe it can also be applied to our rat friends who for the most part are so loving and cuddly.

The losses do seem to come in groups or clusters.... I guess I hold onto the fact that they're heading off together (whether that's to the Bridge or Heaven or reincarnation or whatever you happen to believe) so that they won't be lonely on the journey, and that seems to draw the people who have lost their pets together more as well; it certainly comforts me to know that when any of my guys have passed on, they're in the company of some awesome rats wherever they end up.
