Well they weren't able to fix Ace today because the Dr was tied up with an emergency dog patient. But they cleaned out Ace's hole and gave him a wife beater shirt and Ace bandage

needless to say he is not too happy about all of this.
He goes in tomorrow for his surgery. The vet said that they are very concerned about his bacterial infection. Puppy Dog Eyes

LOL Ashley! A wife beater... good heavens. And man, does he look UNimpressed by that getup :mrgreen: I will tell all of the rats to cross themselves tomorrow for Ace's sake. The entire rat world is pulling for your boy to get better, and you make sure he knows it.

I want Santa Ace pictures, darnit, and after that, i want Happy Birthday RQ pictures, so he needs to start feeling better soon.. and what about Turkey Ace pictures?? He's almost big enough to roast!!!

Sorry, I shouldn't really laugh. Poor Ace. He looks as if he is sucking his thumb in the fourth pic down. Please tell him he is very handsome, even in his new clothes, and wish him a speedy healing from me!

He still looks impossibly handsome in his wife beater shirt.
I confess that on reading the vet "cleaned out Ace's hole" my initial thought was that Ace had taken up colonic irrigation to maintain his fetching good looks. Shocked

My fingers,toes and eyes are crossed that all go well for dear Ace.

Ace is doing a bit better and better each day. We were both sooooo tired. I didnt sleep very well for the past two days, waking up to every peep and checking to make sure he was still breathing. He was laying so very still after we brought him home. They gave him some very very good pain medicines that made him sleep a lot, but made me worry a lot.
Today he seems more alert and is walking around a tiny bit. I cant pet him too much because he peeps, which must mean that it really hurts still.
They did something different to him this time, they hid the stitches. It really really looks good this time. He doesnt look like frankenrat.
So without making you wait anymore here are the latest pictures

He has lost some weight, not sure how much but as you can see from the pictures he still has that yoggie belly!

I suspected you weren't sleeping too much! Ashley, I'm so glad to hear Ace is doing well--once he starts feeling better, I bet he'd have that yogie belly back in no time!

Owen sends out whiskery kisses to his squishy co-frankenrat. He would much prefer lovely hidden stitches to his nasty staples and is a little jealous of lucky Ace's pretty belly! Give him lots of snuggles and treats for us!

I just drove to Chicago and back (from Minneapolis) to meet with other rat folks, and all I could think about while I was doing this was "Is Ace okay?". I didn't have access to the forum for a couple of days, so I was worried about him and you, Ashley! I'm so glad to hear he's doing better. I will send him all sorts of healing thoughts and energy. I'm looking forward to seeing him in action again, as I'm sure we all are.
