Amusing Story ... And a Question :) |
|
As usual, I let my 2 girls out to play while my boyfriend and I were watching a movie at his apartment. They know the place pretty well by now and usually go back into the cage on their own if they're hungry or need to pee. Two hours later, the movie was over and the rats were nowhere to be seen.
My little shy girl, Latte, was quickly found in her usual spot underneath the couch. Mocha, however, proved to be a problem. I started getting worried cause Mocha wasn't in ANY of her usual spots. And she's usually not that hard to find cause she's so spastic that she can't sit still long enough to hide. Not to mention that she sneezes a lot so any hiding place is quickly given away.
Twenty minutes later, I've rearranged all the furniture in an attempt to find my rat. I'm starting to freak out, when I hear a sneeze. Unfortunately, I CANNOT figure out which direction it came from. A few minutes later, I hear this metallic clanging coming from the stove. FINALLY, I open the oven... and there's Mocha, clinging to one of the oven racks. Apparently, she climbed up from underneath and couldn't find her way out.
My boyfriend thought it was hilarious that my rat ended up inside the oven. My question is, where is the wierdest place you've found your ratties after they've been allowed to run loose?

Silly Mocha!
My first rat ever was completely freerange, she lived in a chest of drawers I didnt use anymore and she slept in bed with me. She came to work with me all the time but then I found another job which was less hours a day, less days a week, but as there was food served there, she couldnt come to work with me anymore.
One morning, I get this visit from my neighbour, to tell me they had a little visitor the previous night while I was at work. I didnt know that she could open the cupboard door in the kitchen, under the sink. Another thing I didnt know was that the pipe that connected our sinks had been replaced and there was a hole in the wall... :/
So there's Mr Nextdoor's girlfriend having a wee and suddenly this little PEW rat crawls out of her kitchen cupboard, girlfriend screams and falls off the toilet. Boyfriend is in hysterics, picks up my girl, puts her back through the cupboard hole and plugs the hole so she couldnt come back. I came home that night and it was as if nothing had happened. Surprise the next morning!
Needless to say I went around the apartment all over again that day, put safety latches on all the lower cupboard doors etc!

I have 2 quick stories...
When Cuomo and Doughty were babies (and before my old roommate and her cats moved in) they pretty much had free range of the apartment during the time we were home. One day I had been in my room for a bit and went to collect the boys. Doughty was on the coffee table, attempting to steal something, but Cuomo was nowhere to be found. I looked in all his usual places for about half an hour and finally one of my other roommates came home and began to help, within 30 seconds he was laughing hysterically. Cuomo had somehow crawled up onto our TV stand and was sound asleep on the back part of the television. He looked so very confused when we woke him up.
Legolas originally lived with Beck, but we didn't know that he was just little enough to squeeze through the bars of their cage. I woke up one morning and no little rattie. There were various things shredded to bits (nothing important) but no Legolas. I soclicited the help of the same roommate and after a few minutes of calling his name he appeared, standing on his hind legs in the middle of my dirty laundry pile looking like the most innocent little thing in the world. That ended his time living with Beck however, as Coyne moved in with him to keep him company. Coyne would not tolerate any rats but Beck.

Umm...Amber was IN my pillow once...and Cornflower ended up in the fridge...Kiki once ended up in the microwave...but that's not quite that strange, now is it?

We went to put Sasha and Tasha back in their cage, one night, and couldn't find Tasha. We loked all over, and I finally saw her nose poke out of our mattress! She refused to come out on her own, and we ended up peeling the top off of the mattress, like a sardine can, to get her out.

I do not trust abby enough to let her run around my dorm room but i do let her play in my bathroom, dont worry the potty lid is down so she cannot fall in. I have these stacking crates where i put things that are needed for that room. So i came back in to check on her, i still do not like to leave her locked in there for more than like 20 minutes and i could not find her. She was curled up in a box snug as a bug, enjoying the suunshine that streams in. That is her favorite place to hang out now.
