And now: The Many Faces of ... Thimble! |
|
Ladies & Gents, step right up! You've seen the many asses of Thimble, but now, for the first time ever, it's the girlyman show: The Many Faces of Thimble the M.O.U.S.!
Look! I'm Queen Kong!
No, wait, I'm actually a vole!
Hey, how's this one: I'm a bat! Eeee, eeee!
Ooh, look, I'm a RAT! Don't I look like a rat?
Wait, wait, this is my best one ....
I'm a GREAT WHITE SHARK!!! rrrraaarrrrrgh!!
Okay, wait, this is really my best one ...
I'm a MOUSIE! A cute one!
And now for my sidekicks, the Real Girls ...
Crazy says, "Top o' the world, Ma! Top o' the world!"
Yoli says, "I'm the cute mousie around here! And don't you forget it!"
Okay folks, thankyouverymuch, move along, move along, nothing more to see here ...
THE END

"The end"
Great, so now we can't even be a hundred percent sure that Thimble is a mouse.
He/she is the cutest thing! His/her face looks to be an entirely different shape from the other girls' faces. Mind you, they are also seriously cute. How is Yoli now? I hope the sneezing has completely gone.

Yoli is doing wonderfully, thank you! She's a whole different sort of mouse than when she first came here: popcorning, demanding her share of the wheel time, exploring, even letting me pet her once for a few seconds. :ratfaint:
Crazy, though, is even more terrified of me than ever, if that's possible. The more I try to coax her into friendship, the worse she gets. She almost knocked herself out cold last night trying to get away from me (she ran smack into the side of the cage with an awful boinging noise), and I wasn't even trying to touch her, I was looking for Yoli buried in the Carefresh to give her Baytril.
The Real Girls have become much cuter than when they first arrived, cos Yoli is not squinty-eyed and spiky-haired anymore, and Crazy has put on the teeniest bit of weight (I now realize she was very, very skinny). Thimble is a whole different sort of cute: all round all over, those giant eyes, teeny weeny hairy ears. Do you know that her butt is the size of Yoli's head? I have a comparison pic of that but am out of IM room at the mo.
Edit: WHAT is that " border="0" /> next to the ratfaint icon??

Very cute, Kate! And I finally got to see what the plastic tree stump is. I had been trying to figure out what that was in the first pic you posted of Thimble.

I have a large version of the tree stump house, it belonged to the rats. When I expand the cage, I am going to put the big tree in, cos I'm pretty sure I'm going to get two more girls to add to the pack. Then there will be room for all 5 in one stump, but I will also keep the little tree in another spot for anyone who wishes to sleep apart at times. Thimble often retires to the orange mushroom house in the smaller cage when it gets too hot, cos Nitram comes home and blasts the heat and dries us all out. *gag*
Wade, those tree stump houses are almost always in the reptile section! They're expensive, though: the little one was about $18, and I can't recall what the big one cost cos I got it for my first girls several years ago. They're great, though, the rodents love the three different holes, and they're easy to wash. Someone else just said (upon seeing only part of a pic with a face peeking out the tree stump), "It looks like a rodent donut."
Angelratgirl, wait til you see the pic of the weird water supply ... thing that came with the Hagen cage: let me just say that you haven't seen mouse porn yet til you've seen that! Needless to say I removed it from the cage immediately so as to keep my mice innocent.

Kate, I demand that you cease and desist with the mouse pictures! you're making ME WANT MICE! Nooooo, I caaaaan't get mice.
If you're looking to expand 'em though, there's an excellent mousie breeder up in MA.. she takes fantastic care of the little beasts and produces some stunners. let me know if you want contact info.

I do, I do! Please post it here so all mouse people can benefit! I was not looking forward to bringing home 2 more possibly sick and/or terrified mice from the pet shop.
You don't want mice, trust me. Unless you're Monique, your mice won't hardly look at you or play with you, and you can't kiss 'em, they're so tiny they might accidentally scoot up your nose and get lost! Also, they're waaaaay noisier than 10 rats.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought that Hagen mouse water device belonged in an adult toy store. Did you use the wheel that came with the cage? The way it hangs, it looks like it would sway all over the place.

Aha, so you know what I'm talking about! What were they thinking, really??
The wheel did sway a little bit, but at first Thimble was too little to really make it go much. But when she did (this was before the Real Girls and the second cage), it would go: squeak, clack clack, squeak, clack clack ... over and over again. So Nitram put a little 3 in 1 oil on it. Bad idea. It smelled so awful that even citrus cleaner couldn't help, and I threw out the whole wheel.

Anyone notice the white spot on Yoli's head in Crazy's "top o' the world" pic? You can just see it in the tree stump "window". I swear that spot is so cute, she looks like a brained creamsicle and I just want to lick her.

would you believe that four rats seem to think they fit comfortably in this stump?
and there is always one that wants to plug up the little side hole with rags. it is almost a ritual.
petsmart sells this size stump for 25 dollars, but i got it for less because there was the slightest little chip taken out of it somewhere... i have actually forgotten where.
and then there is the companion to stump.... log! sold by the same company. definitely look around, you can find good prices as well as rip-offs.

Yes, I have seen that log, both large and small!
NO WAY 4 rats fit in that stump! No WAY!! My 3 R.O.U.S. could not fit in there, and the smallest, Robbie, easily claimed it for her own since the other two couldn't get much but their heads in.
Jeeze, I guess they were kinda large.
I've noticed the mice are very particular about plugging up the side hole. I see a nose occasionally, but mostly it's cotton fluff. The rats never plugged it up cos it served as the Treat Tube!

Okay, it's Twice as Mice, and the breeder's name is Chiara. She only breeds when demand is high enough so if you're interested you should email her. I believe she has some singles right now, too.
http://twiceasmice.tripod.com/
She comes in very high regard from OSEDRats, and I take that as a sign that she's very responsible

I just looked at that web page and those are some very cute mice. Nick has longish hair like the bicolored one on the opening page, but not quite as long. Glad I'm too far away to get in trouble.
