Two of my "babies", Bella and Thornton, have crossed the bridge today. I've been in hysterics all day, I haven't even had them long.

This morning, I went to see the mice and found that Thornton had peacefully passed in his slumber. Everybody else was fine. This afternoon, I checked again and found my Bella had also gone.

This has just been one of the worst days for me and my mice. I don't know what happened, and I feeling like giving up.

Sleep peacefully, my little Thornton. Bella, my baby, I'll never forget you.

Thank you everbody for your kind words. I'm going to make sure I don't have a virus going through my mice. I am going to wait about a week or later before getting any new mice.

Wade - Bella was born in November of 2003, and Thornton was born right here on December 17th, 2003.

Mish, I've just thought of something: were they perfectly fine up until they left? Were they related to each other? If yes to both, perhaps there was a congenital defect in each. Just guessing, but maybe a heart problem. One of my rats died suddenly and peacefully in her sleep (with a sweet little smile on her face), and I had a post-mortem done. It was her heart, a hidden birth defect.

I know it's an awful thing to find your babies gone, but better a birth defect than a virus. Crossed Fingers

They weren't related. I do think it was heart failure though - I've had 2 others die from it.

4 deaths this month alone. 2004 is not my year.

Kate, she thinks that each died from heart problem because their deaths were so sudden. I think Thornton maybe died from something genetic, as he had other brothers and sisters who were fine one day and dead the next.
