Poor Bill-In-A-Box. Lately, I have been feeling like Bill was slowing.. readying himself I suppose. He has been uninterested in coming out, uninterested in exciting foods (escept Ensure which he adored), uninterested in live. He got lice again two weeks ago, for which I've been treating. But the very sad truth about Bill is that after he got injured, after all his failed roommate attempts, after he became a Kleenex box hermit, he stopped caring. He just happened to be alive, I think, because he couldn't be bothered to die. Over the last three or four days I have contemplated releasing him myself, but I just couldn't bring myself to the decision. Tonight, Bill made his choice. While I grieve his loss, I think I am saddest that Bill did not pass in his box, where he was happiest.

I'm so very sorry, Bill, that you got hurt, that that emergency vet did what he did to you, that you couldn't recover.. I'm sorry that you hated Aedan and then Euan.. I'm sorry you didn't like me. I hope that I gave you as much comfort and joy and love as you were willing to take from me, and I hope that you will be met at the Bridge by some of your siblings, and some new friends who will help you learn to live a healthy life - uncrippled, bug-free, and with friends. I will miss your sweet face sticking out of your box each night and wandering to the door to inspect me for dangerous things.

Recently Bill did a guest spot on Ratinabox, Victor and Abita's website, and I am so grateful for that because it means that someone else cared for this little loner. Thank you guys for seeing him and caring.

ratqueen, I'm so sorry you have lost poor Bill Cry

He had a rough time, poor little man, but throughout it all you loved and cared for him and, if other people sometimes let him down, you never did.
I'm glad he was able to choose his own time in the end, and that he had you to write such a wonderful tribute for him.

RQ, I'm sorry about Bill. You gave him what he wanted from life and you accepted him as he was. God Speed Bill.....you have lots of company at the bridge. Look up Nadia and she will teach you how to get into lots of trouble.

Try to find some comfort in that you accepted Bill for the loner he was, and you still loved him. You let him know that not all people are bad. You gave him a nice place to stay, good food, and lots of support. You let him be his own ratman. He may have been a loner, but he knows you cared and that you loved him. He knows. Now he's at the Bridge, being greeted by all the other ratties up there. There's lots of warm sunshine, cool green grass, sweet smelling flowers, and multitudinous rattie buddies to show him around and romp and play with. He's not a loner any more. He's got his wings....

I'm so sorry about Bill. He is free of his box at last.

Please don't think he didn't like you--I'm sure he did in his own way and is most grateful for all the love and attention you gave him.

RQ, I am so sorry...

Without your comfort and love Bill never would have made it through all the rough patches...you gave him chances he never would have had. The poor little man probably was tired out from all the fighting. I'm sure he did love you and appreciate all you did, or he would have given up sooner.

I`m so sorry about Bill. I`m glad I had a chance to meet him, and am sorry he had to go through so much because of some ignorant vet. But he knew you loved him, even when he didnt want to be a social happy rat, and you made sure he was comfortable till the end. He will be happy at the rainbow bridge, out of the box forever and running around once again with lots of friends. Hope he met up with Charlymain and keep him company. (((HUGS))) to you and all your little ones.
