Cabinet Cage HELP |
|
What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of a cabinet
cage? For those
that have had a Cabinet cage would you rather have just
stuck with a
wire cage? I've heard a Cabinet cages are hard to clean
is this true?
Please help me I really need to figure out what kind of
cage to
get/make. Thanks for any information you can give me.

Hi Tasha and welcome aboard! I've never had a cabinet cage, however I have had a cage with solid floors and hated it. The floors got way too messy to fast and were a pain to clean. However the pain to clean part may have just been the type of cage it was. I really like my wire cage (Martins, made for rats so the spacing is fine for rattie feet). There are several people here with cabinet cages though so you should get some more info from them.

I had two ages ago. They look pretty if you want them to. And that's about it!
I went through so much stuff wiping down the cage floors several times a day. It is nice to be able to build a cage to your own specifications though. If you only have two rats it's not to bad. But if it's big and heavy you can never chuck the whole thing in the bath. And I got worried that their reccurent mites problem wasn't helped by living in a wooden cage.
So now my whole lot are on wire floors and it keeps them so much cleaner.
I might go back to a cabinet style cage for the novelty of it if I only had a few rats, but I'd probably tgo back to Terenziani cages again eventually.
