If any of you could spare any thoughts for Cambria, I'd really appreciate it. My poor girl just isn't doing well at all.

My sweetie has cancer, and it developed so rapidly that it forced an abscess in her face. The whole right side of her head is swollen and she's got a big hole where it burst. It's really been bothering her mouth, so she's had a hard time eating. She's doing okay with the oatmeal and puffed cereal from her regular food, but that's it. I've been getting as much baby food and cooked oatmeal and pasta into her as I can, but she's still not eating very much.

She got her lower teeth trimmed today because they were starting to grow into the roof of her mouth, she got weighed to be redosed for baytril and Dr. T helped me clean out her abscess. She's down to 134 grams. Puppy Dog Eyes

I'm supposed to keep cleaning it, force feeding her, and medicating her for a few more days to see if she shows any improvement. If by friday she's not doing any better, I'll be taking my girl in to be put to sleep. Sad

I'm sorry.. that happened to my Poncho.. it broke my heart it happened so quick they couldn't do anything :'( so so sorry.. will be thinking of you.. BEe

I don't know if it's possible or reasonable, but did your vet consider something like Cefadrops or Clavamox? They're both very good for skin infections (particularly Cefadrops or similar related antibiotics).

I hate facial and dental abscesses with a passion. They're the spawn of satan. Sad

that she feels better soon, and remains comfortable, as painfree as possible and happy until it's her time to go.

My sweet girl passed sometime between 4am and 9am.

Around 3 she got some sweet potato baby food, a few cooked noodles, a bit of mashed banana and some mashed strawberry. She ate it all, without problem. I'd hoped that meant that things were looking up.

At least she went with a full belly. Puppy Dog Eyes

I'm so sorry. It seems that all of our rats are leaving us at the same time. *sigh*

But maybe it happens that way for a reason. Rats never like to be alone so at least with all our babies leaving us they can enjoy each other's company. Rest Well, Play Hard Cambria.

She had an awfully big battle to face between the abscess and the cancer.

I'm sorry.. I have tears in my eyes. It's cheeky how such a small animal can mean so much to you. Such big personalities. Such tiny vulnerable bodies :'( So so sorry.........
