Post Cubes and Coroplast Cages
These are very popular with guinea pig owners and now looks like Target is carrying cubes with holes small enough for ratties. I'm going to look into this tomorrow.

I've always had a cage in mind that I wanted to build for my rats with those cubes. I could never find squares small enough that my younger rats couldn't fit through. Those are *too* small for me, though. I like to be able to clearly see my rats when they're in their cage and those tiny squares seem to prevent that.

Here's the cage I have in mind(but rat sized squares!)

You should send that setup to Martins! Maybe a Super Ruud should be made (though what a pain it would be to clean!)...or perhaps you could suggest making rat sized panels for build your own models to them. I'm pretty sure they sell the pans individually, so you never know what else they might be up for if there's actually enough interest.

I would think that the rats would pee in all those tubes and it would be alot of work washing them. Do you have rats in there now?

My thoughts exactly. I use pvc pipes, but they come apart and are easy to clean.

I'm currently trying to put the cubes together and screaming at them. I'll take a picture when it's finally finished.

Dianne, I think I see a few ferrets in there actually :) It's her dream cage, only she would modify it for ratties, so probably PVC pipe...though those tubes do break down into smaller units.

I wish the louder I scream the quicker they put themselves together. I'm giving up until tomorrow. My sheet of coroplast was cut horribly - $30 down the drain.
