I have taken on my sisters mice that she has had for over six months. I was a little wary of them at first because they are not socialised and squeaked at me and kinda kicked up a fuss if I tried to go near them. I make a point of at least having a good look at them every couple of days to make sure they are not ill or hurt and yesterday I found a small amout of blood on the paper bedding and found that megan has ripped her ear a little. I have cleaned her up and put some wound powder on. should I be worried? what are the signs of a very sick or distressed mouse?

Ive seen HUGE wounds on males from fighting that heal by themselves. I would leave the ear alone, it will probably heal on its own, her cage mates will help keep the wound clean and will also lick off any antibiotic you may put on.
Sick mice tend to lie out in the open, not hide away to sleep. If she is eating, grooming and active she is probably fine.
