Uhh, I think it's a bit expensive. I didn't check, but I would say it could around 4 or 5 ratties comfortably. I have a white powdercoated cage, and I don't like it. :)

amazing_rat....you have a white powdered cage? And you dont like it because......

frauleinAsh....the shipping is rather expensive. So the auctions dont normally go over $1 or so.

I've spoken with a couple of people who have a cage similar to that, just in one of the larger sizes. One loves it, the other hates it. Here are the pros and cons they've given me:

Pros:
Big
Pretty cheap for the size (assuming the seller doesn't rape you on shipping, as this one has been known to do)
Pretty secure top, and light for its size

Cons:
Juveniles and small does can escape between the bars
Because of the design, a rat can fall from the top level straight to the floor (not as much of a problem with the smallest model)
The wire doesn't extend all the way to the pan, so a determined rat can chew their way out in a matter of hours

If you can get the cage for, say, $50 (including shipping costs), then yeah, it's probably worth it. If the shipping is going to be through the roof, just go to Petsmart and get one of these (SuperPet Deluxe Ferret Home - 4 Levels), or order a 680/685 from Martin's. That's what I would do.

bcorby....Thanks....I like this one better because the ramps are wire not plastic like with the PetSmart one.

Chewing seems to be the biggest concern then? Well....besides the outrageous shipping cost of this cage.
I think I could remedy the chewing issue and the falling issue by purchasing a seperate bin to place the cage down into.
Because the base alone is almost 9 inches high...you can lower the shelves too.
That is a really good thing you pointed out to me something I dont have enough experience to notice.

I just went to the Martins and took another look at their cages....they just look really hard to clean.
The 685 powdered coated cost ALOT more than this one.

I don't like my white powdercoated cage because it's ugly, that's really all it is. I have a Super Pet Deluxe Care home that I got for $50,though it cost more around the price of that cage at stores. I like it, especially the price!

Basically. I still recommend the cage, pretty easy to clean and fun for the ratties because the shelves are easy for me to move around for them. :)

My biggest issue with the Demsond Pet Depot cages on eBay is quality and design. The design can be remedied by placing hammocks strategically to prevent long drops, and by lining the inside of the pan with hardware cloth. The quality issue cannot, and for the cost of shipping on that cage, you can purchase a similarly-sized (but better) cage elsewhere, even at pet stores.

Like I said, if the shipping costs aren't ridiculous and you can afford to make any necessary mods, go for it. One of the owners I know has a 7-level cage from the same person and loves it now that she's worked out the kinks. But for the other, who has the 5-level cage the company makes, it's just been one annoyance after another.

One final note re: the shelves--as they're 1/2" bar spacing but not in grid form, you'd have to cover them with lino or vinyl to prevent rat feet getting caught.

I've heard much better things about these cages, as the wire floor is removeable and the bars extend around the pan instead of stopping in the top of it. It seems to be a personal preference thing, but just from looking at the two, I'd go with something like the above instead of the red cage.

Alternatively, have you checked your local craigslist? I was able to get my Martin's FNE-480 New Englander on there at a ridiculously low price from a couple that was moving and had to sell their ferrets and cage, and I very often see ads for used small animal cages that are roughly of the dimensions you're looking at.
