 Homemade Cage HELP!!! |

Ok so i've spent all morning working on this cage! My fingers will never be the same thanks to that dang hardware cloth! Now i have one heck of a huge cage built, its very sturdy i think it could handle a rat climbing up the side  My only question is does any of your homemade cages have a gap at the bottom? Well not really a gap just seems loose down there should i have made a bottom for it out of hardware cloth? Will it be ok once i get bedding in it?
HELP!!!! 
*UPDATE*
Its 48" tall by 36" wide by 16" deep I added a 3/4 shelf about halfway up and no it doesn't have any doors yet thats next LOL!!

Not sure what you mean by a gap at the bottom. Do you mean the cage has no floor? or a space between the hardware cloth frame and the base? I made my cage using the Rat Fan Club's cement mixing tub design, so I know exactly what you mean with the messed up fingers after working for hours with the hardware cloth and the wire cutters and all that.

Ok i did not use Hardware Cloth for the bottom. The hardware cloth is just the sides. The top is the tote lid and the bottom is the tote bottom. SHould i have put a H cloth bottom on it before i put it into the tote? HELP!!

From the looks of it you don't want to give it a hardware cloth bottom. I didn't do that with mine. I guess you can if you want but I don't a see a reason to. The tote will serve as the bottom. The whole point of having the upper frame separate from the base is to make cleaning easier, because you can just lift off the wire part and empty out the base.

well the problem is that there is a slight gap between the bottom of the cage and the rubbermade tote due to the wheels on the tote.
uggg i give up LOL!

you mean, the cage doesn't touch the bottom of the tote? that's no problem. Just make sure the cage is fasted to the sides of the tote with hooks and springs and there's nothing to worry about.

Just a thought for you: I have that container for storing some bedding (for rats). I thnk the ridges on the bottom of it are going to make cleaning extra difficult for you. And EvilPanda's right about just making sure the cage is clipped down. Most cages made taht way have that gap.
