Hi all,

I need some advice,

I was going to buy a new cage for Rikku when Winter's dumbo is old enough to leave her momma.....both Rikku and the new baby will be going to a nearby small pet clinic for a check up as well...

Anyhow I decided it would be more fun to make a cage of my own design.

I saw a 3 tier bookcase at Wal-mart that is perfect, and I am going attach hinges to the out side and make a door.

2 questions:

1. What should I use for the door in terms of like screen or bars??? ya know to cover the front face of the cage.

2. What would I put down on the floors to ward off the Pee...??

I may say to heck with it and get a Martins but I would like to consider all my options.

If I can make a big enough cage I may get 2 more Ratties!

Any advice???

I've heard it can be a lot cheaper to build a huge cage, but it takes some more work to get it together. I've heard rats like the huge amount of space and all the places they can climb and explore too. Good luck!

i made my own cage too. for the front dont get like mesh cuz they will chew it up in less than 10 min. its easier to have actual metal wire and staple gun it to the door.
