I'm so excited...need help!!!!!! |
|
I got a phone call from the local humane league today about two babies (both boys) that an owner had dropped off. I drove as fast as I could and now they are home with me. I have NO clue what kind of ratties they are...they are so tiny!!! They barely have any hair and big ears. Can anyone tell me from this pic??
I just noticed how creepy the flash made his eyes look!!! ha ha

They look like double rexes. I have a double rex that looked much like that when she was younger (only a little bit less hair than that) and as she's gotten older she's lost ALL of her fuzz. Their ears look like standard, too. I've noticed that double rex/hairless rats with standard ears always look like they don't fit into the ears.

If only about 4-5 weeks old, they could be just rexes going through their coat change. I've got a young rex here who was completely bald when i got her, she's got an interesting hairdo now as her coat is coming through.

Do all baby rexes loose their fur? I've only had older rexes, but Poe's fur is a little thin on her back and her siblings have even less hair. She's only about 4 weeks old. No one will buy her sisters and brother because they have bald patches and I feel so sorry for them. They're all dumbos and the sweetest little ratties.
To NOT steal your thread, the boys are so very cute! You're amassing ratties at a respectable rate, and they're all adorable Good luck with your new boys!

Christy, he's a CUTE rat...that's what he is! Are their whiskers staight or curly? Abita's double rex Pinky has very curly whiskers.
CongRATulations on your newest rescues!

Awww he looks like a double rex! Two-Tone looked like that when she was a wee thing (and still does actually, just with a little bit more hair now). I love double-rex ratties. I think they are adorable.

I agree with Victor. He's a cute little rat!
Do double-rexes always have curly whiskers like rexes do? That would be one way to tell.

They both have very curly whiskers. They are so friendly at this age! I am almost scared to hold them because they are just so tiny!!!
