Ok, so I really haven't been able to face announcing this until today but on Monday I had to put my little baby Magee to sleep. About a week ago he started getting constipated and a little bloaty. Him being a high white rat, I took him straight to the vet who confirmed it was megacolon. The medication and diet barely held him steady for a week, and then he just crashed. It was the most painful experience to watch him go from a crazy, hyper love to a sick little ratty who wouldn't even eat his popcorn. His last few days, all he wanted was to be held. The decision to euthanize him was not hard because he was so miserable, however actually watching it was. He was only with me for three weeks but he was so loved and I was absolutely devastated.
This weekend I will hopefully get around to posting some pictures of him and his brother, Chipotle, from before he was sick. As for Chipotle, he misses his best friend but is otherwise doing fine. I am looking into a couple of rats at a local animal shelter, and hopefully I will have some buddies in QT by this weekend. For now, he has a ton of extra attention and a fuzzy teddy bear to keep him company.

I'm so very sorry.  Megacolon is a horrific disease, and I know he will have appreciated that you tried for him, and that you ended his suffering before it worsened.

I'm so sorry to here about Magee . It's hard enough to lose an animal when you know it's coming and they're old and ready, but losing one so young must be devestating . Your mommy loves you very much Magee.
