Matilda and her urges. |
|
Matilda, a 21 week old girl Is the HUMPIEST girl EVER.
Mount mount mount mount
all the time.
I've had her 11 weeks, and she is just SO .. ahem .. HORNEY!
How can I get her to stop Humping My other girls (Her 2 sisiters, Bear + Basil durning playtime),
They dont like a small over-proud rat humping their rumps. Squeal Ect.
Also today Matilda and Bear (Play time) Where Defense kicking, Sidiling (Or whatever), and have face-off, flip[ping onto stomachs as well.
Is my tiny tiniest girl Matilda Trying ot be the dominant one?
By humping, and challenging my other Rats?
How cna I get her to stop humping them!
I've even caught her humping the rope in her cage, the hut, the ladder, ramp Ect.

This is too funny. I was going to suggest that maybe it's a dominance issue, but if she's doing it to inanimate objects.....
Well then I just don't know

OK - sounds like she is trying to assert her dominance a bit - but she also is a bit of a horn monster as well by the sounds of it. If she's 11 weeks old, her hormones are kicking in full force. While it's not as obvious usually as with the boys, they do still go through the teen and puberty hormone rushes and so it may settle down when she figures out her place with the others...

OK she's definitely going to be hormoney - but goodness me, she's definitely in the mood. Is she like this all the time?

I have a year-old gal that was fine with her 2 female cagemates - but then when all these imported girls arrived (they have play-time together) she would be ear-flapping and leap-frogging EVERY NIGHT! She so badly wanted attention from them A couple of them complies by mounting her. I think she is just jealous that all the other girls are going to have babies and she not! (she's not really got enough substance and comes from a line with myco flare-ups)
So yeah.... I dont know what to suggest, but I am sure spaying will help.
Maybe its just spring fever?

I have a question...why do female rats feel the urge to hump if they are...well, the receivers?

I'm not sure if you're female or male, but if you're a female, you probably already know the answer .
On another note, you might want to consider having her spayed. I'm a fan of spaying otherwise-healthy females for medical reasons, and I have living proof in Sydney that it calms them down. Syd was a year old when she was spayed, so I'm sure any "habits" she had were set in stone, but she's a much nicer girly since having her spay. Now Maggie, the only as-of-yet unspayed girl is absolutely the bad one. It's a big personality difference that I never saw before, but it's really obvious now.

I'm female...But I just didn't know it would be in female rat's instinct to hump things...I know all about the lordosis, which makes sense to me, but the humping seemed kinda strange, because thats not their natural role.
