Mouse issue |
|
I have a male mouse Mogly.
Always heathy.
His ears got VERY dry & discoloured, and scabbed i a short amount of time
. and NOW of his ear is half gone! The other peeling and has a hole in it!
Is this an infection?
He's going to the vets as soon as I can get him there but -- and help to ease him unitll them would be appreciated.
Note:
No change of food/water
Sleepy as usual
Hasnt been running in wheel as often.(could be because he is gettin al il older)
Coat is healthy
eyes clear/bright
teeth good.
Still eating, being play ful (wanting to coe out)
He's still relitivly young (i beleive)
i'll post pics up as soon as I can!

I'm not sure to be honest - he's a lone mouse, or living with buddies?
It could be down to an infection of some kind, or perhaps some kind of tumour/cancerous growth. I've heard of certain mites in rats causing ear deformities, but I don't know if there's a similar thing in mice. Some mice are rather prone to skin growths that look almost warty, if I rememeber right - but really, I can only think you can make him comfy until the vet is able to take a look and work out what's going on. I'd say make sure he's getting plenty of food and water in the interim, and get him to the vet ASAP. Do let us know what the outcome is, and hopefully some of the more experienced mice owners will have a better idea on this.

Sounds like mites to me. I'd get him to the vet for some ivomectin which will clear it up, but the poor guy will have deformed ears for life I have had a few mice with mites, and have one atm who I need to get treatment for(I use revolution for puppies/kittens, as it is ivomectin)

Yep, that's what I meant, but forgot to type 'ear' Ivermectin will clear up ear mites, as I said I used revolution intended for puppies and kittens, ans that treats ear mites
Good luck!

His ears are dead no ciculation, cant feel them.
JHe has bashkinilastis or somthing got some cream.
He owuld do tests immediatly if he wernt a mouse.
It also depends how deep the begining of thei nfection is.
