New Litter - Tricolors, Blues, Texel and a Mock Hairless |
|
Well, I have just about the cutest litter I have ever seen here right now!
In October, I bred Tahoe (Beige Merle from Tricolor/Blue lines) to Tigerlily (Tricolor Fox). Tigerlily delivered 16 little squeakers in the middle of the night on Nov. 6th.
I was expecting the litter to be all Standard coats- but boy, was I surprised! I did get mostly Standards, but I also got a Satin, three Texels and even a mystery baby I am referring to as a Mock Hairless. The Texel was a real surprise, since it is more than 5 generations back on the pedigree.
Anyhoo, thought I would share some pics of a few of the cuties. Not the best pics, but you get the idea.
First, the Tricolors.
This one is Godiva, a RED-based Tricolor female I am keeping.
This is Nova, a Tricolor Fox male with a headspot.
And this cutie is Meadow, a dark Tricolor Fox Texel female.
The Blue Tricolors-
Here's Bandit, a Blue Tricolor male that is also possibly Long Hair.
This little cutie is Cloud, a Blue Tricolor Texel male with a really nice coat!
Then, the only full Blue in the litter. He is currently up for adoption, so he is unnamed. He is a Blue Fox Blazed, and very sweet.
And last, but not least, my little Mystery Man. I am not 100% sure what exactly caused his almost-hairlessness, so I am just referring to him as a Mock Hairless. He has sparse, fluffy/curly fur covering his entire body. Genetically a BEW. I have decided to name him Gizmo.
Here he is checking out the camera.
Hope you guys enjoy the pics!

Yeah, my first thought was Double Rex as well - but both parents are standards, and Rex is dominant....so that was ruled out.
The only thing I can come up with is an Astrex. They seem to have that same sort of look, and it is a good possibility there is some Astrex in the line. I only have 6 gens of pedigree, and this was a mother-to-son breeding.
I decided to keep him for two reasons. One is that I am thinking of breeding him back to mom, in which case if this is a simple recessive trait (and not a genetic mutation), then I should get more little fuzz butts like him. The second reason is that he is so ugly he's cute, and very sweet.
I will be posting a few more pics of him in a day or two - soon as I can obtain some new batteries for the digital.
