 Pets Paradise stores (Australia) |

Anyone in Australia - could you let me know what your local Pets Paradise store is like and how they treat their rodents.
The store near me, Toombul Qld, sell their mice from a mixed sex tank with a sign ON THE TANK saying they cannot guarantee the sex of the mice!!! Why not? How stupid are they? Obviously they are selling pregnant mice all the time.
I know they also do alot of unethical things with dogs, cats, birds - all animals really - but is it such a big ask for them to seperate the mice into male/female tanks and not sell mixed sex pairs of mice or rats?

Wow, Just sounds like they could care less. Where I live, they keep the ratlets that are over 7 weeks old together in the same tank.Male and female. I think they just really don't care.

Yeah, it sounds like our PETsMART  Some of them our real jerks (they let two of our first three rats get VERY sick while there and refused to put the other one with a heart problem and respiratory illness to sleep until he suffered and died himself).

I refuse to go to Pets Paradise in Knox, Victoria
They don't separate thier babies.............. and speaking of babies, they are only about 3 weeks old!!! and no mum!!!
Believe me I said my bit!!!!!!

At Pet Lovers' the sexes are mixed in the breeders' cage(alas, the home of Amber and Cornflower and the birthplace of Mai)and where the animals are too young to breed. But generally the animals are treated pretty well there, the rats and other trustworthy animals are carried and/or put on shoulders, and I can stay there for 2 hours doing nothing but playing with the rats. And of course they can tell the sex of their animals. Then there's the occasional pregnant rat by accident, but only when another rat escapes and...ya know...mates.

hey i live in toombul too  well clayfield, on sandgate road across from the shopping center. I bought one of my rats from there and the other 2 from chermside and they've been bestest rats.. Dunno about mice though. I do know they are shocking at fish (i am a goldfish pro too) But i dont mind them, i've chatted to a few and the people who actually know about rats are quite knowledgable and keep rats themselves and save little sick ones they get in.

EH it called me guest!! well that post made by "guest" is mine..
and i do agree that they should separate the male/female mices, but maybe they dont have anyone who knows? I mean they do employ like 16year olds :/ I've tried to get a job twice and they've said i've been too old, and i'm only 20.

I live in warragul vic, the closest petsparadise to me is fountain gate and they don't have rats, nor does the dandenong store.Chadstone stroe has rats and they were in seperate tanks for male anf female, they all looked healthy and happy and the girl showing me them was happy to handle them and they obiously handled them abit coz as soon as the door was open they all flew up to greet her..I think it depends sbit on who's running the store...
