The main problems she had:
1. The bar spacing on the cage exterior is .75". This is small enough for bucks, but babies and most does can escape.
2. Because of the cage design, it's possible that a rat could fall from the top of the cage all the way to the bottom.
3. The pan at the bottom is fairly thin and has nothing in it to keep the rats from chewing their way out--which hers apparently did several times.
4. The seller bends you over and rapes you on shipping. |
The cages I looked at were 1/2 inch spaced, but I did see a few bigger ones. I hadnt even thought of looking at the design of some of the top shelves, you think 2 ft would be a far fall, even if the rat landed on 2-3 inches of carefresh bedding? None of my rats ever chewed the plastic in their cages, but thats not to say Ill *never* get a rat that likes to chew plastic. Thanks a ton for posting these potential problems

OKAY, the brand on my cage is YML...
Now, I searched the net and they don't have their own website from what I can see..... This is the only REAL link I could find with small animal cages, if anyone else finds a good link to their stores page let me know

I called the yml group 1-800 number and they do not sell to the general public...
What you might want to do is call them and ask for a list of their suppliers...
1-800-965-8878
Here is my cage....I felt so stupid when I realized that I put the door panel upsidedown...
I will be changing it when my thumb recovers from the first time I put it together.
the clips they give do work really good!

Thanks for the number, ill give them a call and price check all the suppliers lol see who's cheapest!
And those clips do work really well! But they also can do quite a number on your thumbs, I did so many of those d*mn clips that my thumb was purple and swollen, I was convinced it would spurt blood any moment, it didn't though lol... But they do hold the cage together really well! I suggest if anyone decides to get more than one of these cages to take a few days break in between building them
