Post Rat Cage
I was just wondering where I could get a really nice cage for a pair of ratties. I have no ratties at the moment, but I really would like to know where I could get one. I live in the eastern US if that helps. I can't spend more that say 150 dollars US. So thanks for the help in advanced.

Try this for advice:

What sort of cage do you want - wire mesh, a tank, a tall one, a long one? What sort of flooring do you want?

I like Martin's cages a lot, and its a family-owned business to boot. For $150, you could get a VERY large cage (powder-coated, of course). I'd recommend getting a rat cage for babies, and not a ferret cage, as the bar spacing is smaller.

A rat *needs* 2 cubic feet of space for itself as a MINIMUM. This means that a cage for two rats needs to be four cubic feet MINIMUM. I started with an R-670 for my first two girls, and I now have two R-670s connected for my four girls. the cage works out well for them. However, if you've got the extra cash, you can spring for a much larger cage. The more space in the cage, the more interesting toys/decorations you can add to it, and the less bored your ratties will be.

You can check out www.martinscages.com for the cages I'm talking about.

Martin's can custom-make any cage on their site with rat-sized 1" x 1/2" mesh, just e-mail and ask them.

The Martin's 685 would be nice for two ratties and easy to clean
