 Rate My Cage... |

I am looking into getting The Rat Retreat (R-685) powder coated(30" x 18" x 24") from martinscages.com. I am getting two male rats. Would you all say this would be enough room for them

Yes, a 685 is plenty of room for two big guys, but you're short on room if you want to expand your colony.

Very, very good choice. Definately get it powder-coated too. I recommend hammies from Dearpie (dearpiehammocks.com), Rattamuffin Reskue (rattamuffinreskue.org) or Sondra (who can be PMed at BlueBubblesBumping right here!).

I think that's a perfect choice for two boys. =)
But like bcorby said, if you plan on adding more ratties in the future, you may want a bigger one. =P

I thought that I would never have more than 4 rats. Now I have 8. They really are addictive!
It would be fine for 2 male rats though.

My largest amount has been 15. I'm TRYING not to get past that

If it was my decision I would have 10+ rats, but until it is I can only have two...  .
Anway, pdm, that looks like it would be a great cage for your rats!! I'm sure they'll love it!!

you forgot about the RRR hammies....lol You cant just stop at two rats and you already know that...But for now its a good cage, and will be a good quarentine cage in the future. Shaz

I think that's a great cage for two boys. And Martin's usually packs the cages in this awesome shredded paper. I highly recommend keeping that and using it for nesting material inside igloos. More than a year after getting my first Martin's (and a few after...) I still have an adequate paper supply because of them.
