Post Rats and chewing gum
Ok.
So...I have these rats.
They chewed their way into my backpack and this morning I found a few half-eaten sticks of gum lying around on the living room floor.
My rats run free in my apartment and I discovered this just before having to bolt for a class, so I couldn't hunt around for them.
Are they going to be ok?
Sad

Post RE: Rats and chewing gum
I'd imagine so - as long as they seemed fine. The biggest risk would probably be it sticking or tangling in their mouth as they chewed, or them choking on it - but they may well not have chewed it long enough for it to go from the unchewed kind of brittle state into the gummy mass. Once it's been swallowed, it will either digest or pass through them, in all likelihood. Despite what your mum or classmates might say, gum doesn't hang around inside you for years. wink

It's theoretically possible, I suppose, that it might clump up if they ate a lot, so keep an eye open for stomach problems - bloating, lack of poops or diarrhoea, lack of appetite etc - but I don't think that's likely.

Thanks for the reply!
I'll keep an eye out, but they look to be ok.
