Post Stacking Martin's cages
So here's my wild idea:

I'm thinking of getting a Martin's R-695 with a flip-top lid after Christmas (once my bank account is restored to a respectable level), then removing the door from the lid and securing the wire portion of my R-690 on top to make a friggin' huge cage. Has anyone tried this? If so, how did it work?

Another concern I have is that the 690 won't line up with the edges of the 695, so I'm concerned about a collapse. Would the 695, do you think, be able to hold the 690 up, or would I be asking for trouble?

Hmm. I would be concerned... that you wouldn't have sufficient support where the two cages join.

Honestly if you want a giant cage I would just save up the money and order their R-699 that way you KNOW its going to be great. :)

The only concerns I really can say I have is the 690 is a smaller foot print than the R-695. I would honestly recommend, if you want to go that route, that you either get the R-699 (which is a pain in the BUTT!!! to clean. I had an R-695/R-680 combo for about a month before I split the cages.) or have seperate housing and groups for two bunches. wink

I'd thought about the Ruud cage, but I just don't have $240 (after shipping) to throw down on a cage right now, when the 695 would cost so much less. I'm still thinking about stacking a 670 on top of the 690, maybe even a second 690 on top of the current one?
