Post Stereo Cabinet Cage
Here's the new home to Daisy and (Not yet named rat). It's made from a sony stereo cabinet. I took a pressboard shelf from another unit to give it an extra shelf. The ramps are wooden as well. I've got a tennis ball on a string to hang from the top, and a cloth hammock to put in also.

I used 1/2 inch vinyl coated wire for the back, and metal channeling to make the corners cleaner. I left the glass front on the cage, I assume the entire open back will be ventilated enough, but I glued a lock catch on the front and put the bracket on the top. I need to keep the kids at the youth program out of the cage, plus, the Daisy might have been able to push the glass open. Anyway, let me know what you think. Criticism, or anything!

oh, the net rat cage sits on a desk actually, and along with it are the other pets in my science learning area/ The one you see is a lizard, then there is a rose haired tatantula, and a leopard gecko. Out in out garden area we have a parakeet, and 2 rabbits. We're called youth impact, one kid called ti zoo impact once. hehe.

I though of naming our new rat cage Rat impact, or maybe the temple of Ratter Day Saints. But I don't want to offend Mormon people. Sad

Wow, sounds like a neat thing you have going on there! I dn't think you'd offend anyone by calling it the temple of Ratter Day Saints. I thought it was quite good! Of course, I'm not a mormon, so I couldn't tell you if that would offend one or not. *I don't think it will....*

I just took another look, and I really like the cage. It's pretty good sized, and it looks like an actual cage. Not a stereo cabinet. LOL You deserve pats on the back!

*giggle* OK - probably shouldn't laugh, but I thought "Temple of Ratter Day Saints" was pretty funny... but I think it would be better as a name for the cage. Mr. Green

Looks like it has plenty of ventilation. The only thing I'd say about all that wood is to make sure every possible surface is thoroughly sealed - wood gets so stinky after a while if the urine seeps into it.

Plenty of toys and hiding spots, and they're going to love it. :) Out of curiosity, what are the dimensions on it?

"The Temple of Ratter Day Saints" is a great name for a cage!

The cage looks great! When you add a few toys they will love it!
