 Teddy 02/09/03- 02/05/06 *A Bday celebration* |

Our dear sweet witto old man has left us. 
Teddy had a wonderful long life and I can't be upset about that. I'm heartbroken that we had to say good-bye to our beloved boy, but I couldn't have asked for more from him. He really lived much longer than we thought he would with his respiratory issues and the two tumors he had on his chest.
He was still with us, when I checked on him in the middle of the night, but he was gone this morning. Venus and Suzie were cuddled up around him keeping him warm. Although I'm so very sad I wasn't with him when he slipped away to the bridge (I had been holding him off an on all day as I knew he was getting close), I'm just so glad he had his girls with him.
We had made an early morning appt with the vet to set him free tomorrow, if he didn't pass on his own. And it was just like that dear boy not to have to put his momma through the heartbreak of taking to that last visit. I love you Teddy
Teddy has finally been reunited with his cousins, Kam and Kai......and his brother Willie. 
Good-bye my sweet Ted Ted....momma misses you so much already.

Aww - sweet little Teddy. He must have led an amazing life, and was lucky to have such a caring momma. I'm so sorry for your loss.  Sleep well, dear Teddy.

Oh Debbie.
I knew this was coming, but your post made me well up - dear sweet Teddies, so close to his 3rd birthday. I know that you've taken wonderful care of the old boy, and that he's had a lot to deal with, but he was so clearly loved and adored by you, and you cared for his every need. I think you're right - that he wanted to go at home, surrounded by his girls and with you close by. I know, too, that it's harder when you aren't with them when they pass, even if you know they went peacefully - but I'm sure he simply wanted to spare you, as he did with sparing you the vet visit.
Sleep tight, Teddy bear boy and play hard - you had such a special place in my heart so I can only imagine how much your mum is missing you right now. Give Kammy, Kai and Willie smooches, and be sure to drop in on my wheezy boys and Newton - I just know that they will be thrilled to see you and will make sure you have a huge party with all your friends and relatives.
Debbie. I wish I could make it stop hurting. Knowing it will ease with time doesn't help a lot when it's so raw, but remembering the good times will keep him alive in your heart with Willie and Kam and Kai. Give his girls a kiss and scritch for me and thank them for watching over Teddy until you could care for him.

Oh, Debbie I'm so sorry. 
Teddy had a great, long life, and he couldn't have asked for a better mom. I always loved seeing pictures of him and hearing stories...I'm so sorry he had to go.

I'm so sorry Teddy had to leave you. He had such a wonderful life with you and the gang. He's free of his tumors and can breath easily again.

Teddy was such a wonderful little man. His sweetness was beyond measure. I am so glad that I was able to meet him last fall.

Oh Debbie, I'm so sorry .
I'm in tears right now thinking of your sweet old man. The past few weeks I've been comparing he and Kermy so much and my heart broke seeing your post. It's as painful as losing one of my old men, and reminds me of how valuable each boy is. Kermy will be getting extra yogies and scritches tonight  .

Oh no! this makes me so sad to hear. Poor old Teddy. I wish so much he could have celebrated his 3rd birthday. It is really nice to see all the pictures of him through his life from a perky young man to a wisen old sage. It sounds like he lived a long happy life and that he went peacefully among friends. I imagine that him and Willie and the rest of the rainbow gang are living it up right now basking in the reunion.
So sad for you loss. Healing to you and hugs.

I took a weekend off and came back to multiple Ratpalace icono-rats having passed . What a sad day. I knew it had to be coming, but I was still holding out hope that Teddy was secretly an immortal rat. I'm sure he missed his guypals, though- just as much as his girls will miss him. I'm so sorry .

Thanks everyone for your kind words.
Losing Teddy (though expected) was harder than I had tried to prepare for.
Today is especially hard as it would have been his 3rd Birthday... He was just 4 days away from it when he left us.
We are going to have a Birthday celebration this evening in Teddy's honor. I'm sure there's one heck of a party for him today at the bridge as well.
We don't want to take anything away from our dear little girl Rose though. Today is her first Birthday. She came to live with us (along with her pal Buttercup) just two months ago....but is very much, a big part of our family.
I plan to take party pics this evening and will post them in a thread just for Rose.
Happy Birthday, my little spazzy nekkid girl......

Oh Debbie I'm so sorry. I'm glad though, that he had a peaceful passing and is reunited with his family and friends. Happy birthday sweet Teddy (and Rose), enjoy the Bridge.
