The diet and hammocks. |
|
I am off out today to try and find bedding and rat nuggets for them. At the moment we are using newspaper and will be till next wednesday when they will be cleaned out again.
Do they have nuggets mixed with their rat mix every or every othher day?
We were thinking of this as a diet schedule for them (besides treats)
Day 1: Rat muesli
Day 2: Rat muesli and Nuggets
Day 3: Rat muesli and vegetables and fruits (brocalli, spinich, banana, carrots, raisins and abit of dog kibble)
Day 4: Rat muesli
Day 5: Rat muesli and Nuggets.
Day 6: Rat muesli
Day 7: Rat muesli and the fruit and veg again.
How much fruit and veg is required if they are having it twice a week?
We gave them a teaspoonful the first two times, but I know we should be gradually increasing it. Do we eventually fill the bowl?
I will be looking for a hammock for them as we think they will love it, and all the pics on here of rats in their hammocks look so sweet and they seem to like it.
Am I likely to pick this up in any pet store that sell small rodent things? Bear in mind Im in the UK.
Also, I posted on the 'do rats hoard their food' topic. Could anyone help me out if they read it and post it on here? Thanks.
Best go... Im being picked up.

I give small meals of raw and cooked veggies, fruit, and cooked or sprouted grains or beans each night. I like to give a wide variety, fresh food each day, and organic food. So a typical post-playtime meal for three adult boys might be a half cup amount of brown rice or sprouted grains, leaves of raw parsley or kale, a few bits of cooked chicken, and maybe some thawed corn kernals. Frozen vegetables are great--you might find organic easier that way in the UK, not sure. Here there is organic frozen winter squash, sweet potato, green soybeans, corn, and peas, all of which the rats love frozen or thawed. They love cooked beans like garbanzos.
