Have you ever had really stinky feet? How about stinky feet that weren't your fault?
I'm not talking about forgetting to change gym socks, or wearing the shoes in the rain with a bad case of athletes foot.
Nah, none of that. I'm talking about the stinky feet that occur when your darling toddler rips up a piece of cheddar and proceeds to use your shoes as a vessle for the cheese pieces' containment. Oh yes, glory is to be had with the cheese. So I'm sitting on the couch, reading a Glamour magazine (yes I was bored) and I glance over to the floor. Here are my black shoes, and a few rats seem to be hunched over them. I can't figure out why, so naturally I inquire aloud as to the source of their interest, and then see several hopping away with something that they proceed to nibble. By now I'm very alarmed as to what the sweet pants they are ingesting from my shoes so I say, "Robert! The rats are eating something out of my shoes! What is it?!'
Lo and behold, it is a stockpile of cheese. Yes friends, a stockpile of cheddar pushed back into the toes of my mary jane style flats. This was truly an interesting find.

Never trust toddlers with cheese when there are shoes nearby.

[Edit:] I wonder - What gross things have your rats eaten, and what weird places have they gotten the weird food from?

Cute after the fact, yes. But I was absolutely HORRIFIED, I had no idea what was in my SHOES where I put my FEET. My rats didn't seem to mind the great taste of foot germ cheese, but hey - They're rats. They don't care about much if the food at least smells good >_>;

I wonder - What gross things have your rats eaten, and what weird places have they gotten the weird food from?

EUGH last time I stuck my foot in my shoe and had a horrible experience was with a big beautiful squishy spider. Suffice it to say 'Squishy' was the most operative term there ;_;
It was one of those spiders that are like 2 inches across with legs, the ones that are brown with the huge butts. I smooshed it with my toe and freaked out (feeling HORRIBLE obviously) and threw my shoe across the room and wouldn't go near it. I was disgusted X_X

Bugs aren't meant to smoosh in shoes. And on that same note; cheese isn't meant to be put in ones' shoes either. *grumbles* X_X

I won't go into my spider experiences. Needless to say it was the ultimate cause of my horrific phobia where the simple thought of the things reduces me to a hyperventilating, crying mass and actually meeting one is a humiliating nightmare.

Worst place my guys have got edible things from - all over the place. They will eat off plates, find crumbs in corners, they'll kill and eat bugs or moths or flies if they catch them... They go rummaging in dirty washing, rubbish bins, piles of bags, ashtrays..... they stash everything, given half a chance. They have a thing for used tissues and they don't care if that biscuit that's been stashed under the sofa is stale. Rolling Eyes

My rat Robot once ate a pepcid AC that she found in my purse one day. I didnt think she could (or would) get in there, but they are constantly proving me wrong all the time, haha! I thought "my god, that mustve tasted *terrible*!" Puke

They like to dig in the garbage can, who knows what they find in there! I have to keep that closed at all times

edited to add: hey Cylenny, did you throw those shoes out or what? lol!

Just remember - many rats like the taste of echinacea and bitter apple spray designed to keep pets off things. Yuck

No taste those furries..... none at all. Which makes you wonder why some of them are so fussy over food! LOL

Amen. How the crap can they eat shoe cheese, and then Wigglesworth won't take a scrumptious delicious Yogie?

And no I didnt throw the shoes out. I wore them >_>;;; The rats did a good cleaning job. It was mostly just broken pieces sitting loose in the toe of my shoe, and they were really good about finished the cheesy job they started
