Up my sleeve, up my sleeve!!!!!!! |
|
Yoli went in my sleeve!!! At least 8 times! Then she went in the other sleeve! She bit my fingers a lot, though -- tasting, curious, not meanly. And Crazy let me watch her build her mound of bedding while I talked to her, and Thimble chewed on my fingernails for a while through the bars. And Crazy even came out and ran on the wheel while my arm was in the cage with Yoli up my sleeve, though she (Crazy) ran back in the stump each time I twitched and said "Ow!" when Yoli nipped my figers. All this happened in the last hour or so! WOW.
But -- now Yoli knows what the cage door is and she wants OUT. Augh, that FACE! Oh I can't wait til the new cage materials arrive, hopefully by this coming Thursday. Then Crazy can build even bigger mounds and Thimble will have room to roam and I'll be able to get more of me into the cage so Yoli can crawl up my sleeve more. Oh I wish wish wish I had a mouse-proof room! No such thing in this house, though, our walls and ceilings are already filled with the critters as it is.
Maybe I could get a big box and sit in it and let Yoli crawl on me.

Why not? It's just a variation on the rattie playpen theme.
I think you will have them all eating out of your hand in no time, even Crazy.

It tickled a little, not much. She was more interested in biting my fingers, which didn't tickle.

Try taking your arm out of the cage with her in your sleeve and resting your arm on your lap. Ive never seen a mouse yet that took off or lept out of your lap. She will probably be very timid about coming out of your sleeve to explore.
I let my mice have "play time" on the couch everyday. Havent lost one yet!! I also have a "play table" set up for them with lots of toys and things to explore. If you use a table make sure you put a towel or cloth on it otherwise you may find one falls off the edge.

I am terrified they'll simply leap off into the wild blue yonder. Well, Thimble definitely would, and I'm pretty sure Crazy would too since she's terrified of/hates me (she did a cobra attack on my fingers several times last night). Yoli would probably play nice. I think I will have to get two more girls for Yoli to play with, so she has some fairly normal company. Then maybe the three of them can teach the two nutters how to act, and we can all play.
