Whats up with the Hammock Protest? |
|
I only have 4 fleece hammocks....when they are dirty I have to use
other hammocks.....they protest and all curl up in a ball on the top shelf
next to where the hammock is hanging...
Are rats really that fussy???
I cant believe it!
Will they ever give in and become a little more flexible??? OMG!

I just don't give my girls hammocks anymore. They don't use them for anything but toilets, preferring instead to sleep in their ferret playpen (which is, itself, a fancy hammock), the rollaround ball I strung up in their cage and stuffed with paper bag material, and the wooden Chin-hut I flipped upside down and put a fleece blanket in. It keeps the cage smelling much nicer, as they actually use their litter boxes as toilets now.

I thought that was normal?
They pee and sleep in it, I just change it every couple of days.

It's normal to a point. My girls weren't sleeping in them. Ever. They just peed and pooped in them, then went to sleep in another part of the cage--leaving the litterboxes and the entire bottom level spotless. It got to the point where I was changing the hammocks out every day, and that was just ridiculous.

I quit using hammocks, and went to Sam's Club and bought the package of 30 washcloths. They're cheap, and I just throw them away, and put in a new one.

My girls have never slept in a hammock, they used to just pee in them. Recently i cleaned out thier cage and replaced thier ferret play pen with a fancy towel...
Ema gose in it if Snickers in in thier, but Snickers seems to only like to sleep in it, and only during the night... weird. In the day they sleep in a small only one rat tissue box, but they can squish in there and stay warm.

the only time my girls ever used a hammock was the time i put kleenex in it. they curled up and slept in it for one night. then they dragged the kleenex down to their usual spot and never went back

My girls just chew there hammocks, so one day I bought cheap tea towels and some shower hooks.
All I do is cut holes throught the tea towel on each side and just use the shower hooks to hold them up. Once the tea towel is ruined you just throw it away.
