Why are ratties so great? |
|
My friend has a mom who does NOT like rats what so ever. My friend really likes them, and she really likes the Kim's Ark ratties. We are making a list of why rats are so great to show to her, so, comment away!

Uh, thanks Sara.(sorry, i just HAD to make that kinda sarcastic. no offense.)
But yeah, thats true... when i told my mom about it this afternoon, she started laughing and went downstairs. Not a good sign.
Um, we already have a little paper, but it won't work very well. It has a little bit of text and a million pictures, and i don't think my mom will be convinced on pictures alone.
So, as Sara said... comment away!

They're adorable, small, don't bite, are simple to take care of, and don't keep your neighbors up barking all night.

they dont puke up hairballs, they dont scratch your sofa, they dont eat your homework, they dont dig holes to china in your yard, they dont poop much, they have very little odor, they wont chase the neighbors cat, they dont bring home dead animals, they dont lay in hte middle of a walk way, they dont need to go outside to relieve themselves, their toys are cheaper, their food is cheaper, they dont need yearly vaccines, they dont get rabies, they dont shed as much, they dont walk on your clean laundry unless you let them, you can teach them tricks, you can litter box train them, you dont have to worry about them accidentaly getting outside and lost, they eat your leftovers, they like to cuddle, you can take them anywhere just about(with clever rat bags) they make very little vocal noise, you dont have to walk them, they dont howl when sirens rip by your house at 3am, they take up only a small space, they wont eat your houseplants unless you let them, their litter boxes are small, they dont need a liscence, they dont need collars and id tags, these are just SOME of my reasons, I have about 100. They are very inteligent.
They should not bite.
They are cute and cuddly
They are usually sweet and/or fun to watch play
They can amuse you all day long.
They do not need regular vet check ups.
They do not need to be walked outside in the unbearable heat/cold.
What is it that your friends mom does not like about rats?

I think rats trump other pets in personality. Their little rattie minds are constantly whirring, and the amazing thing is that they all whir in completely different directions. I have five utterly different ratties. I have a feeling that no matter how many ratties I have in my lifetime, I will never find one that is truly like the other. They all have their quirks and I could probably identify any of my rats by a written description of their behavior/activities in a given day.
They're just the funniest, brightest and most interesting little creatures that I have ever met.

Thanks for all this stuff. If you look, Ellie's Girl, my friend is PuzzlePower, and you can just ask her directly. We can definitely use this, but she already has 2 dogs and a cat, so it's not what to get, her mom just thinks they are gross. (ugh, when will some people learn?)

Its really hard making parents accepting new animals, they wont let me get another rat.
My mom said that rats were gross, you just gotta find a really cute one (eg my grandma was like AHHH RATS and she would try to hit her but when she saw her she thought she wasnt all that bad)
Go to the pet shop with your mom and look at them and ask the pet store people questions, also a little internet search isnt a bad idea.
My mom thought a rat was a bad idea but all it really took was a trip to the pet shop.

Rats are awesome because it is in their genetics.
If your mother believes in god tell her this: God made rats out of 50% awesome and 50% rat, therefore they are awesome and I must get one.
It should be a breeze from there >_>

Rats are great pets because:
They are friendly.
They are smart.
They are like little puppies that don't need to be taken on 3 walks a day.
They are all different, and they all have different personalities!
The are highly affectionate.
It's fun to make them toys.
It's fun to watch them for hours.
You can let them out in your room(as long as its rat proofed) and they don't hide under the bed.
They are the most lovable cutest things EVER!
Well that pretty much sums it up.
Puzzlepower, just show your mom all the photos in the photo gallery on Rat Palace, and she'll have to let you get some!
Oh, and amazing_rat, you are so lucky to have a friend that actually like rats!!

Actually, she was the one who actually got me into them. At first(a year ago, when she started to talk about it), i guess i had a pretty standard opinion(EEWWWWWWW, RATS?), but then she started to tell me about them. Anyway, i try to keep and open mind about pets, seeing as how many and what kinds i've had. nothing can get much worse that a hamster biting off most of the skin of your mom's finger.
anyway, my mom doesnt like rats bacuase of common prejudice and stereotype. Such as: rats started the black plague(they actually only spread it), and it affected them as much as us), rats are dirty and rude animals, ect. Kinda stupid, huh?

Tell her that rats are much different from hamsters, maybe even better. They are sweet, they don't bite, and can be cute as can be when they snuggle in their hammocks. (which by the way can be made out of stretchy book covers)

There is nothing new there. Also, you don't need an account to copy things.

OK, but bad news. last night mom was being a brat **looks over shoulder to make sure she didnt see me type that** and said to my dad that she wasnt going to let me got any more pets, no matter what the type.
oh, by the way, when i got up to crate the dogs, Mocha went right into Puzz's crate and lay down! Dont answer that. Let's stay on topic.

Um, why not? If you buy it, it's your pet, not hers. She won't have to pay for anything. Save up a vet fund just in case, you have to show her that you are ready for more pets, I am going to have two cats , a dog, and two rats.

And don't forget to tell her that they'll be your Mocha's x2. If you use cloth bedding, and get Yesterday's News for your cat and the rats, it'll save money!
